Terry Bradshaw gave Vince Young some great advice on our pregame show today, and it's pretty obvious that the young quarterback needs some attention. I'm not sure about the right approach. He may need counseling by a professional or mentoring by some top individuals on the Tennessee football team.
This is a difficult time for Young, obviously. As a former coach, I would think the best way to help him is with some mentoring within his own football family or maybe other respected football people that he truly trusts. He is a very talented individual. He proved that his rookie year. He struggled last year, and now he's struggling again, especially with the injury.

He can help you win football games. And he can get back on track.
I understand Coach Jeff Fisher's reluctance to give him his job back when his knee gets healthy. This is professional football. In professional football, you have to earn your way. Nothing is really given to you. Kerry Collins is winning games for the Titans. So, Vince will have to earn his way back onto the field.
And I think that's the only way the other Tennessee players want it because their jobs depend on winning. And right now they are winning with Collins.
I know a lot of people on the outside believe Young has been playing because he was a first-round pick and he's making a lot of money. Well, that never entered the equation for me, and I'm sure Fisher feels the same way. I once cut a second-round pick before the season opener because I thought I made a mistake.
I have always believed that whoever does the best job to win games should be playing.
Rodgers the real deal
I picked Green Bay to win the NFC North, and they are not disappointing me. But I know some people thought Minnesota was going to make a run at the Packers this season. Well, the Vikings have lost to two very good teams. They had a 15-0 lead on Indianapolis and lost it, but that proves they are a pretty good team because the Colts have been one of the best teams in the NFL over the past three or four seasons.
Even Michael Strahan will tell you that you can start a season 0-2 and it doesn't mean the end of the year. In my last Super Bowl season, we started 0-2. So, something good can still happen.
Aaron Rodgers, though, sure looks like the real deal.
Two seasons ago, the Packers started playing great defense. Then last year, the defense was good again and then in the second half of the season the Packers really started to run the ball better with Ryan Grant. We see now what the coaching staff in Green Bay saw in Rodgers. They knew they had a guy who could win games.
I gave rookie head coach Jim Zorn a hard time on our pre-game show, but I thought his team played inspired football against the Saints. The only point I was trying to make with Zorn is that this is his first season calling the plays, this is his first season to be an offensive coordinator and this is his first time to be an NFL head coach. Even for veteran coaches who have done it for a long time, I think that's overwhelming. I think that's too much for one guy to do. The point I was making was for Zorn to delegate some of that responsibility.
That was a very good win for the Redskins, but I still think Dallas, Philadelphia and the Giants are better than Washington. Week in and week out, those other three teams will win more games. They are so much better.
The Redskins caught a New Orleans team that is a pretty good, but they have as many injuries as anybody. With their top receiver Marques Colston out and Deuce McAlister not ready to rumble, the Redskins crowded the receivers and took away the Saints' running game. Drew Brees was under a lot of pressure, and he was forced to dink and dunk a lot.
McFadden caught my eye
I know the Raiders finally won a game, but who did they beat? Kansas City. Well, consider the competition. Now, the Raiders do have some talented players. Darren McFadden looks like he should be a great pro. But I still think the Raiders are a long way away from being respectable in the NFL.
