Tennessee Titans Notes, Quotes 2008-12-26
--As Vince Young prepares to see action Sunday, there is the chance that third-string QB Chris Simms might also play against the Colts. Simms, who ruptured his spleen with Tampa Bay in 2006 and has not played a regular-season game since, would relish the chance to see game action.

The Titans signed him, after Young got hurt, and have been working hard on getting his strength and conditioning back after the spleen was removed.

"There was a point last year, maybe right around this time, that I didn't know if I was ever going to be able to play again," Simms said "I'm just excited to be here every day and be practicing and being around a great bunch of guys and just feeling good again."

Of regaining strength after the injury, Simms said, "I'm getting real close. I don't know if I'm 100 percent yet, but I'm continually just improving. I feel like week by week I'm throwing the ball just better and better. Maybe some of my issues might just be mechanics more than anything, and timing, just getting used to get reps again, but I'm feeling pretty good."

--CB Cortland Finnegan was admonished last year by his fellow defensive backs for not being conscientious enough in his gift-giving as part of the secondary's secret Santa festivities. So this year, he went all out and nickel back Vincent Fuller had a framed montage of his high school, college and pro career standing in front of his locker.

"Last year, my gift was the worst gift. I gave the worst gift. I gave some gift cards, and that wasn't very thoughtful. So this year, I had to really be thoughtful," Finnegan said.

Finnegan collected the photos from Fuller's mother, after tricking Fuller into giving him his mom's phone number.

"He did a great job of tricking me into giving him my mom's phone number, and she brought it down for the weekend game. They did a good job of getting it on Sunday, and putting together as quickly as they did for Wednesday," Fuller said.

BY THE NUMBERS: 6 -- Touchdown receptions for receiver Justin Gage, a career high for him and the best total on the team.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I've got people coming up to me saying, 'How are you doing?' and they've got the sad face on, thinking I'm sad and that I'm down. But really, I'm not. I'm real strong about the situation, and I just want them to know as friends and family and everybody that's watching what goes on TV, don't really feed into everything. All I want to tell them is I'm fine, I'm great." -- Titans QB Vince Young, on how he has reacted to being demoted to second string this season.
