Tennessee Titans Notes, Quotes 2008-12-16
--Despite the outcome, coach Jeff Fisher said he would not change his decision to forego a 50-yard Rob Bironas field goal late in the 13-12 loss to the Texans on Sunday.

Fisher indicated that Bironas' range on the end where the wind was blowing in was only at the 28-yard line and that the Titans were on the Texans' 32-yard line when they went for it on fourth-and-3, with Kerry Collins' pass sailing over Justin McCareins' head, giving the Texans the ball on downs.

"Rob's limit was the 28-yard line. Anything outside that, he was barely making them from the 28. The line of scrimmage was the 32," Fisher said. "I'm not going to put Rob in that position to fail. Any time wind is involved, I know what his distance is going to be, and where the outer limits of the distance is. If I'm going to ask him to go out there, then it's on me if it's well beyond that. But this is a different situation. It was at the end of the game. We had timeouts left. We had opportunities to make plays, and we didn't. We also had a four-minute defense that failed."

--Fisher also defended QB Kerry Collins, who took the blame himself after completing just 15 of 33 passes for 181 yards and one interception. Collins overthrew and misfired on several passes, including the fourth down play to WR Justin McCareins. However, Fisher said the receivers were to blame on some plays for cutting off their routes.

"It was not just all the quarterback. I think it was a combination of things. We had many opportunities on the field to make plays," he said. "Everybody was taking turns offensively (messing up)."
