--RB LenDale White was watching the Carolina Panthers defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football and was upset with what he saw.
A sign in the stands and references on the broadcast called Panthers running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart as "Smash and Dash." That is the nickname White and teammate Chris Johnson unveiled for themselves after an Oct. 19 win in Kansas City where the Titans rushed for a team-record 332 yards.
"Yeah, I was watching," White said. "I was upset because I made that phrase up myself. I made that up. I don't know about NFL Network and all these other guys. I heard somebody say like, 'Batman and Robin.' That's cute and all that. If they want that name, they can have that name. But the 'Smash and Dash' is something I made up. If they want a nickname, I can nickname them, 'Identity and Theft.' I think they'll run away with that."
White claims to have not only coined the term, but to have trademarked it. He and Johnson have had t-shirts made that are selling in local grocery stores with the money going to charity.
"We got a copyright and everything for it. I'll make sure I show the documents, but it is trademarked and everything," White said. "I don't know if we're going to take legal action or not.
"I'm think I'm going to definitely send them a couple of t-shirts, so they can hang them up and put 'fraudulent activity' on there somewhere."
White had a couple of the t-shirts shipped to Charlotte, N.C., to Williams and Stewart.
--QB Vince Young is a hero down in Houston, but after his Week 1 meltdown during and after the game, he has become somewhat of a forgotten man this season.
Now a second-string quarterback, Young has seldom talked to the local or national media since his off-field incident where he went missing, but this week he gets to find a bit of solace. The Titans schedule takes them back to Houston, where Young remains a home town hero three years after leading the University of Texas to a national championship.
Vince Young has endured a tumultuous season in 2008, but this weekend, Young will be back in familiar haunts, as he returns to Houston with his Titans teammates for the first time since the opening week drama unfolded and he eventually landed as the backup to Kerry Collins.
"It's definitely special. I haven't been home in so long, probably August," Young said. "I'll go get a haircut like usual, and just eat and get back. I told my mom to get something to eat for the guys on the plane ride back."
Young said he will probably take teammates Bo Scaife and Chris Johnson with him to his home, and that he is looking forward to seeing his fans in the Houston area.
"It will definitely be good to get home and get back in front of the fans, the Houstonians and everybody back home," Young said. "I know they're definitely going to be excited to see me, and I'm definitely going to show love back to them like always. It's definitely going to be fun to get back home."
BY THE NUMBERS: 11 -- The number the Titans are in the plus column in the takeaways/giveaways, and also the number this week's opponent, the Houston Texans, are in the minus in that same category.
