Tennessee Titans Notes, Quotes 2008-11-29
--There was an usual sighting at Ford Field on Thanksgiving Day -- quarterback Vince Young back in the huddle and under center for the Titans.

Young, who lost his starting job after a season-opening knee injury and off-field matter involving a police search, entered the blowout game with 8:51 to play and looked pretty good in his return. He completed a short pass to fullback Ahmard Hall, who turned upfield and gained 54 yards. A second completion to Lavelle Hawkins was wiped out by a penalty.

"We were joking when he walked out onto the field," running back LenDale White said. "We looked at each other and laughed, and he came in the huddle and said, 'Hey, haven't seen you guys in a while.'"

Young declined interview requests from the Nashville media in attendance at the game, instead choosing only to speak in generalities to a radio reporter from Westwood One.

"Every game we're going to get better and better. All we've got to do is take it one game at a time," Young said. "It's a long season, but overall, to me, I think we're doing a pretty good job, even though we had a bad loss last week, but at the same time, we got back to where we wanted to be, running the ball and moving the ball down the field. I'm pretty sure our coaches are pretty proud about that."

--When a team like the Lions struggles so badly and has had so many failed high picks over the years, a part of the discrepancy between them and a contending team like the Titans has to be tied to be evaluation, scouting and coaching.

Nowhere might that be more evident than in the case of DE Dave Ball, who had a 15-yard interception return for his first NFL score. Ball was a street free agent who was out of the league last year and simply hoping to stick in somewhere in his last try in the league. Yet, he had the interception and a sack and has 4.5 sacks this season.

After the touchdown Ball joked about sidestepping a Lions player to reach the end zone and about his celebration dance once he scored.

"Back in pee wee days, I played a little running back, so shaking and baking a guy like that is relatively easy for me," Ball said.

Of his arm-flapping celebration, he said, "That's the flying turkey. In the locker room Vince was asking me if I had anything cooked up, so I did a little turkey dance for him, and I think that was in the back of my head."
