Tennessee Titans Notes, Quotes 2008-10-29
--Cornerbacks Nick Harper and Cortland Finnegan did not have any interceptions, but they did the job Monday night in holding explosive Colts receivers Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne in check. The Titans corners held the vaunted Indy duo to just four combined catches in the game for 41 yards and no touchdowns.

Harper, a former Colt, matched up on Harrison and played especially well. He recovered and batted away a sure touchdown pass on a deep post pattern, and later knocked away another Peyton Manning pass on fourth down. Harper said the Titans' game plan came courtesy of Green Bay, which also limited to Colts wide receivers to just four combined catches.

"We had a good game plan for them. We saw what Green Bay was able to do to them," explained Harper, who limited Harrison to only one catch for 12 yards. "They were able to stay square on them, and they had trouble with DBs that stayed square. They like guys to just let them run free, but we got our hands on them and pushed them around and got them off their timing, and that was huge."

--The Titans knew they would be without DE Kyle Vanden Bosch who missed the game because of his strained groin. Vanden Bosch's streak of 54 straight starts as a Titan came to an end.

What the Titans could not have been prepared for was to be without Dave Ball, who was scheduled to start in Vanden Bosch's place. Ball was in on the opening kickoff and suffered a concussion, so he never got to make the scheduled start, leaving second-year man Jacob Ford to play in his place with rookie William Hayes backing up on both sides behind Ford and left end Jevon Kearse.

Ford played well, getting one tackle for loss and deflecting a Peyton Manning pass. The defensive line did not have any sacks, but still managed to harass Manning enough to prevent any big plays and to help with two interceptions by safety Chris Hope.
