Tennessee Titans Notes, Quotes 2008-09-30
--Quarterback Vince Young watched Sunday's victory over Minnesota from the sidelines rather than the coaches box as he did the previous week. Young, however, spent only minimal time around the offensive coaches on the sideline, spending a decent portion of the day sitting atop an equipment box at the back of the bench area.

Coach Jeff Fisher said that is not an issue that needs to be dealt with as Young makes his way back from a knee injury suffered in the opener.

"Let's just say I'm happy with where he is," Fisher said. "Yeah, you (media) do over-analyze it at times. He's sitting on a 6x6x3 red chest with white tape and letters that say this, and he sat on the front edge for the first play, and then he moved back a little bit. C'mon, please. He got the play. He knew what was going on. He was into the game. He was rooting for his teammates."

Fisher said there is a possibility that Young could practice this week and a chance he could eventually be the No. 2 quarterback.

"We're hoping to get him involved in practice this week, and we'll see where it goes," Fisher said. "I'm pleased with where he is, mentally, emotionally and physically, because he's making strides."

--Defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch disputed Vikings quarterback Gus Frerotte's claim that he hit him in the midsection on a roughing the passer penalty in Sunday's game.

"I hit quarterbacks a hundred times a year," Vanden Bosch said. "All I did was hit the quarterback. You've got a small window where you can hit the quarterback. I did not hit him below the knees, I hit him in the thigh, and that's where the rule book tells me to hit the quarterback. I'm not a dirty player, but if that's his opinion then he's entitled to it."

On Monday, coach Jeff Fisher agreed that Vanden Bosch's hit was a legal play: "When it relates to player safety, they are expected to err on the side of caution. There's going to be plays like that and calls like that that we'll disagree with. It was a legal hit. It was not an illegal hit."
