Tennessee Titans Notes, Quotes 2008-09-27
--One of the most vivid moments connecting the Titans and Vikings actually had nothing to do with an actual game. It came in 2001 when then-Vikings receiver Randy Moss stirred up a major firestorm during a conference call with Tennessee reporters.

Moss, who had been quoted at the time as saying he only played hard when he wanted to, was asked if he'd been misquoted or had the mention taken out of context, Moss replied, "Hell, no, that (expletive) is what I said."

Moss went on to say that if Vikings fans took offense to his approach that he might have to go after them, in so many words. Needless to say, it didn't take long for that wildfire to get back to reporters in Minnesota.

But it turned out that Moss did want to play that Sunday against the Titans when it was game-time. He caught seven passes for 158 yards, including a 73-yard touchdown pass from Todd Bauman to cap a 42-24 rout of Tennessee.

--WR Bobby Wade is in his second season with the Vikings after resurrecting his career with the Tennessee Titans.

Wade proved valuable as a slot receiver and punt returner in 2006 for Tennessee, which claimed him off waivers from the Chicago Bears in 2005 after he'd had a bad day in windy conditions fielding punts.

Wade caught 33 passes for 461 yards for the Titans in 2006, but departed for a $10 million contract in free agency with the Vikings. He has six receptions for 77 yards thus far this season for Minnesota.

BY THE NUMBERS: 4 -- Interceptions Cortland Finnegan has in three games. Finnegan took over last year for suspended Pacman Jones, who, for all his notoriety, had only four career picks for Tennessee.

5.5 -- Yards Titans rookie Chris Johnson is averaging per rush through three games this season.

4 -- Touchdowns for running back LenDale White, who is the power back complement to Johnson. White had just seven touchdowns all last season.

87.5 -- The Titans' red-zone touchdown percentage through three games. That number is first in the NFL, after Tennessee finished last in that category a year ago.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Scoring touchdowns wins football games. You can have all the 1,000-yard seasons and 100-yard rushing games you want, but if you ain't scoring, you ain't helping the team win." -- RB LenDale White, on becoming a short-yardage and goal-line back.
