"We will certainly be tested throughout the schedule this season, but particularly to start and end the season," Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. "We start the year with four of our first six games on the road and face all three of our divisional opponents. To end the year, four of our last six opponents were playoff teams a year ago."

The late stretch Fisher refers to includes a visit from NFC champion Arizona and Kurt Warner followed by a return meeting with Manning and the Colts in Indianapolis on consecutive weeks. A Christmas primetime game with the San Diego Chargers is also included in the late part of the schedule as the Titans' final regular-season home games.

--The Titans have been busy hosting 30 players, not including local players, who do not count against the total. A couple of the local players are actually intriguing this time around. There is Vanderbilt cornerback D.J. Moore, who, while not being able to get his 40 time out of the high 4.5s, could be a second-round steal for some team needing help at cornerback. Moore is as versatile as they come, not only as one of the top cover corners in the Southeastern Conference last season, but also as a kick returner and even as a wide receiver. Moore ran some pass patterns at his recent pro day, while at least four Titans scouts and members of the coaching staff watched.

The other player with "local" ties who is somewhat interesting is Southern Cal's Patrick Turner. The 6-5 wide receiver, who is a Nashville native, was recently in for a visit at Baptist Sports Park. And while he is not the fast receiver the Titans covet, his size does make him an imposing target. Turner already knows Titans coach Jeff Fisher, himself a USC alum, from Turner's high school days when he was a prep star in the Nashville area at Goodpasture Christian School and was going through the college recruiting process.

--The situation with receiver Torry Holt appears to be on hold until after the draft. Holt has not had any more reported visits to other NFL teams since his trip to Nashville nearly two weeks ago. Holt, released by the St. Louis Rams, has also visited Jacksonville, but might be willing to wait until after the draft when the free agent market might pick up steam and other teams could jump into the mix. The Titans and Holt both said the visit went very well. The major issue, of course, is how much money Holt's camp will command versus what the Titans will pay for a receiver who turns 33 this summer.

--The Titans unveiled their throwback uniforms as part of the 50th anniversary of the American Football League, dating back to the team's days as the Houston Oilers. Defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch modeled a jersey and helmet of the Oilers' 1960 uniforms from the inaugural season as a kickoff of the team's annual caravan. The uniforms, to be worn in the Hall of Fame Game Aug. 9 against Buffalo and twice in the regular season, feature a blue helmet with a white oil derrick as well as Columbia blue jerseys for home games and a white road jersey trimmed in Columbia blue.
