The road to the Super Bowl in the AFC still goes through Nashville, but a couple of major potholes just emerged for the Tennessee Titans.

The Titans found out on Monday they will be without their two best defensive linemen - Albert Haynesworth and Kyle Vanden Bosch - for the remainder of the regular season.

Haynesworth suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee with 1:38 to play in Sunday's 13-12 loss to the Houston Texans and underwent an MRI on Monday, which revealed he would need about two weeks time to heal.

Vanden Bosch has been bothered by a groin injury off and on since Oct. 5, and reinjured the groin last week against Cleveland. He was finally sent to a specialist, who will perform minor surgery on the groin muscle in hopes of having Vanden Bosch back for the Titans first playoff game.

"We just completed tests on both Kyle and Albert, and I look at this as good news. We're expected to have them both back for the playoffs," Titans coach Jeff Fisher said Monday. "We were all very concerned about Albert's condition after the game. He has an MCL sprain, and that oftentimes is 10 days to two weeks."

As for Vanden Bosch, Fisher said the injury from the Browns game was in a similar area to the original injury and that the surgical procedure was necessary to correct the problem.

"Kyle will be undergoing minor surgery to repair a muscle, and the specialist has every reason to think that he also will be back for the playoffs," Fisher said. "It's not an on-going thing. We evaluated him last week, and felt it was best if he go out and see a specialist. It's the same region (as the first injury), but a new injury."

Tennessee won't play until the weekend of Jan. 10-11 in the divisional round after clinching a first-round bye.

But the 12-2 Titans would prefer to have the No. 1 seed in the playoffs and to do that, they will need to defeat the red-hot Pittsburgh Steelers (11-3), winners of five straight.

Despite not having his two best defensive linemen on the field, and coming off a troubling loss to the Texans, Fisher said Monday he still likes where the Titans are this late in the year.

"If you had told me when the season started that we could beat the Steelers in the second to last game of the season for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, we'd have taken that," Fisher said.
