? Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that he is hopeful starting defensive end Brett Keisel will be able to play in Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans. Keisel has missed the past three games with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Marvel Smith is "status quo," Tomlin said, which means the Steelers' starting left tackle will miss his 10th consecutive game because of a bad back.
? An NFL spokesman said the officiating crew made the correct call in awarding Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes a touchdown in Sunday's 13-9 win over the Ravens. Holmes caught a 4-yard pass from Ben Roethlisberger with less than a minute left in the game and his momentum carried him out of the end zone and back onto the field of play. He was initially ruled down inside the Ravens' 1-yard line, but the call was reversed after an official review. The NFL's head of referees, Mike Pereira, said the correct call was made, according to league spokesman Greg Aiello. "(Referee) Walt Coleman determined via high-def video review that the receiver had possession and two feet down with the ball in the goal line, meaning it broke the plane," Aiello said via e-mail.
? The Steelers' defense is the subject of this week's cover story in Sports Illustrated. Outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley is on the cover.
? The Steelers practice today for the first time this week. Tomlin gave the players the day off Monday, and Tuesday is the players' regular day off during the season.
