Frustrated
Since he became a starter in 2005, Willie Parker has never been through a three-game stretch like the one he just endured.

Parker, a two-time Pro Bowl running back, has 101 yards rushing on 44 carries in the past three games, a stretch punctuated by a performance against the Tennessee Titans in which he had six carries for negative yards and three others for no yards.

Even his signature run -- the big play -- has disappeared. Parker has only two runs longer than 20 yards this season, tied for second fewest in the NFL among players with as many rushing yards.

"You know, it's frustrating, but you just got to hang in there and keep it together as a team," Parker said. "There were a lot of negative runs, but we got to put it together and just start clicking."

There might be some help coming from the Cleveland Browns.

They rank 29th in the NFL in rush defense and gave up a career-high 171 yards rushing to Cincinnati's Cedric Benson last week.

"You got to keep running," said Parker, who has 673 yards on 186 carries this season. "Being a running back, you never know what can happen. In one mishap, they could shoot a gap and give me a big hole somewhere else and I can cut back. It can be a big play."

Injury updates

Pro Bowl linebacker James Harrison (hip) and safety Ryan Clark did not practice for the second day in a row. Clark will not play against the Browns because he dislocated his right shoulder for the second time this season against Tennessee.

If he doesn't practice today, it is unlikely Harrison will play against the Browns.

Keisel moves forward

Defensive end Brett Keisel said he felt "slow" against the Titans, his first game back after missing three in a row because of a sprained medial collateral ligament in his knee. Keisel had just one tackle.

"But it was great to be back out there again, and now I can just go forward," Keisel said.

Crennel winless vs. Steelers

The Browns have lost the past 10 meetings with the Steelers, a streak that has put their coach, Romeo Crennel, in a dubious spot.

Crennel is the only coach in Browns history to never beat the Steelers (0-7).

Quick hits

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has 101 career regular-season touchdown passes. His 17 this season are down from his team-record 32 last season and more in line with his first three seasons in which he had 17, 17 and 18. ... LaMarr Woodley remains third among linebackers in the AFC with 11.5 sacks, behind former Steeler Joey Porter (17.5) and teammate James Harrison (16), but he doesn't have a sack in the past three games and just two in the past six.
