Young Hurts Knee, Collins Hurts Arguments for Young’s Struggles

After watching Vince Young struggle to get anything going for three and a half quarters, Kerry Collins came in to Wally Pipp him after Young suffered a knee injury. Young had struggled to get anything going all day–Collins threw two passes, completed both of them, drove the Titans 70 yards and led them to the insurance touchdown they needed.

There’s no word on how long Young will be out, but after watching the two of them, you have to wonder if it even matters. As has been mentioned countless times, the Titans have a horrendous group of wide receivers. But while that’s true, it’s just as true that after Young went 11-for-22 for 110 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions, Collins was 2-for-2 for 65 yards. Stats can be misleading, and Bo Scaife’s 44-yard catch-and-run from Collins was actually a little screen that turned into a big gain, but Young’s continued inaccuracy makes that it’s hard to argue that the Titans always have a better chance to win if he’s in the game.
