The NFL’s decision to suspend the Cowboys’ Pacman Jones for at least four games has also affected the Tennessee Titans.Jones’ suspension costs the Titans two draft picks.
According to the terms of the trade that sent Pacman to Dallas, the Titans would give the Cowboys a fifth-round draft pick if Jones is suspended again by the NFL. Also, the Cowboys are now off the hook for a sixth-round pick they were to send to Tennessee.
Now the Titans are out two extra picks there were to have had in the 2009 draft.
The Titans already received a fourth-round pick in the 2008 draft for Jones. They were to send a fourth-round pick back to Dallas if Jones, who was under suspension at the time of the trade, was not reinstated by the NFL before the season started. Jones was reinstated just before Week 1 so Tennessee gets to hang onto that pick.
Still, this is a very small price to pay to have rid themselves of Jones.
