The whole “Vince Young Quits on Team” business from Sunday was bizarre enough with just Jeff Fisher making things awkward, Titans players refusing to talk about what happened with their quarterback, and VY getting injured after finally returning to the game.
I mean, wha’ happen? Seriously, someone tell us. Ah, thanks, Keith Bullock.
“I am hoping it is not a 16-week thing, but at the end of the day we want to have the No. 1 defense in the league, so if we have to play 90 snaps to get that, that’s what we’re going to have to do,” linebacker Keith Bulluck said. “.”
Emphasis mine, of course. And Bullock didn’t say “Vince Young is a frigging quitter and I don’t want him on my team.” But you don’t have to be some professional between-the-lines reader to understand what the Titans linebacker is saying.
And that would be something along the lines of “I’ll take Kerry Collins for the rest of the season as long as he acts like he cares”. Well, maybe that’s a bit much. And likely, any bad sentiments will simmer some with Young out for the next couple weeks, but it would be pretty surprising not to see more of these realistic statements come floating to the surface over the next few days.
