Titans’ 2008 first-rounder Chris Johnson is already showing that he’s ready to step in and contribute. But Johnson’s success emphasizes how far 2007 second-rounder Chris Henry still has to go to become a consistent NFL back.
As the Tennessean points out today, there’s an outside chance that Henry could end up being cut, with 2006 seventh-rounder Quinton Ganther taking role as the No. 3 back. While Johnson’s 66-yard run against the Rams got noticed, Ganther was nearly as impressive (against the Rams backups) as he rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. He showed surprising speed, breaking free for a 45-yard dash. Henry was adequate, as he had nine carries for 38 yards.
